With our home and, more importantly, our heart in the Heights, we naturally love everything about this area. One of our favorite pockets of the Heights though is Sunset Heights, the northern portion of the Greater Heights area. We can’t get enough of Sunset Heights, and are so proud to have the opportunity to present some of its amazing homes.
The neighborhood, which is bounded by I-610 (the loop) to the North, Airline Dr. to the East, 20th Street to the South, and Yale St. to the West, has all of the signature Heights amenities, yet some singular advantages of its own. We already gave you our top 6 reasons for loving Sunset Heights today, but there’s even more excitement coming…here are our top 4 things to look out for in the near future.
- Construction at the Loop and US 290 Nearly Complete: We previously discussed the many advantages that come with Sunset Heights’ close proximity to the loop. What is already a convenient feature, will become an even bigger plus very soon once construction taking place at the loop and US 290 is complete. This will be a huge boost to the flow of traffic and make getting to northern parts of Houston even easier, not to mention giving you a head start for your weekend trips to Austin!
- 365 by Whole Foods Market: Whole Foods is bringing their new 365 concept to Houston, and Texas, for the first time with a store at Yale and the loop. 365 is a new chain of smaller grocery stores with lower prices said to be targeting millennial shoppers. The stores are named after Whole Foods’ “365” house brand which will be featured heavily in the stores, but national brand name products will also be available.
- Yale Crossing: This 8,910 square foot retail building will be located on the southwest corner of Yale and 28th. The development is expected to seek out participation from established Heights restaurant groups like Treadsack and Agricole Hospitality.
- The METRORail Red Line Lifestyle: This Sunset Heights amenity is actually already available, but the North/Red Line extension is still fairly recent so we can’t help but be excited about it. With the completion of this part of the Red Line, Sunset Heights residents can now easily bike to the Lindale Park and Cavalcade stops on the Red Line. From there, you can ride to Downtown, the University of Houston, the Museum District, NRG Stadium and more. If biking is not your cup of tea, you can always drive to the North Shepherd Park & Ride and then access it from there.
