The new year is officially here, and for many of us, that signals a time to start fresh, and write a new chapter. Here at Boulevard, 2019 is certainly bringing in a season of change. In Houston, as we prepare for the 2019 version of our annual kick-off meeting (that serves as a launching off point for a successful year), we’re also eagerly awaiting the completion of our new Heights home in a brand new, state-of-the-art head office, which is set to open its doors in the year’s first quarter. Even with the new office on the way though, much of our excitement at the moment revolves around some big Boulevard news down on the island.
We’re proud to say that Robert Zahn’s term as the 2019 President of the Galveston Association of Realtors (GAR) is now under way! Robert was officially sworn in as the new president of GAR last month as part of the association’s wonderful Installation Party at the San Luis Resort.
It’s pretty crazy to think that Robert is now the 2019 president of GAR, when not too long ago he simply was looking for a place on the island to get a change of pace. But as can happen in Galveston, he enjoyed the people, community, and island life so much that he simply slipped into island time quite indefinitely! Since permanently settling down in Galveston, Robert has become heavily involved, chairing local causes like the Arts & Historical Preservation Advisory Board and several events for the Galveston Historical Foundation. Now he takes on potentially his biggest role as a Galvestonian yet, leading the oldest Association of Realtors in Texas, and one of the oldest in the country. For Robert, the value of a hyperlocal association of people committed to selling on the island cannot be overstated. Thus, he’s enthused to be the face of GAR in 2019, and make his mark on the association. You can keep tabs on Robert and the Galveston market by checking out his weekly market updates in the Galveston Daily News.
Robert isn’t the only Galveston member of the Boulevard family writing a new chapter in 2019. Richard Abston, a native Galvestonian, is making a major change by selling his historic family home. He has no plans to leave the island though and will continue helping his clients find those hidden gems in Galveston’s historic neighborhoods. For over two decades Kelly Myers has been investing in, and restoring historical homes, and most recently, she’s loved being a landlord of a darling old Galveston home right by the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Though she loves the island so, it looks like Kelly’s exciting next chapter will take her to Switzerland to be closer to family. Meanwhile, Lyssa Graham Reynolds isn’t really a practicing agent anymore, but she’s certainly still part of the Boulevard family! These days, Lyssa is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), is doing a lot of voice acting, and has her own quite quirky podcast BS de Resistance, a scripted political satire show with with a full cast and original song(s) in every episode!
This is an exciting time on the island for Boulevard, and with us every step of the way as we move forward will, of course, be our office in historic Downtown Galveston. It’s been right around 3 years since we dropped anchor in the historic Washington building, and we’ve loved every minute of it. From the prime location in the heart of Galveston’s walkable downtown to hosting Galveston ArtWalk events, having a physical presence on the island again has been everything we thought it’d be! We don’t know what other changes are to come in Galveston, but with a group of talented agents who love living and working on the island, and our very own office in Downtown Galveston, we’re excited to forge ahead!
