• If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the Heights can satisfy it in any number of ways. Ice cream, cake, cookies, pies, donuts, apple fritters, bear claws…the list goes on. Here are some of my favorite spots to stop by when I’m craving something sweet.

Fat Cat Creamery 1901 N. Shepherd Small, locavore ice cream parlor featuring creative frozen treats, old-timey sodas & other items. $$
Golden Bagels & Coffee 3119 White Oak Dr. Bagel shop celebrating the craftsmanship of classic New York bagels and locally roasted coffee. $
Hugs & Donuts 1901 N. Shepherd Gourmet donuts with fresh ingredients and housemade fillings, as well as apple fritters and bear claws. $
Kolache Shoppe 1031 Heights Blvd. Local bakery offering over 30 flavors of Czech-style pastries, plus a full-service espresso bar serving Boomtown Coffee. $
Kraftsmen Baking & Cafe 611 W. 22nd St. Cozy bakery offering fresh breads, light fare at breakfast & lunch, plus weekend BYOB brunch. $$
Melange Creperie 711 Heights Blvd #B Popular street cart turned brick and mortar serving simple and elegant French crepes. $
Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt 512 W. 19th St. Cheerful self-serve chain with dozens of frozen yogurt flavors & toppings, sold by weight. $
Red Dessert Dive 1045 Studewood Creative takes on classic baked goods pair with locally roasted coffee, beer & wine in a cozy space. $
Shipley Do-Nuts 3932 N. Main St. Chain with a variety of yeast, cake & filled donuts, plus kolaches, espresso drinks & smoothies. $
SMOOSH 718 W. 18th St. Dessert spot specializing in custom ice cream cookie sandwiches, plus shakes, sundaes, soda floats & more. $
